Administrator – job share

To provide administration and first aid assistance  to the student support office on Thursday and Friday and assisting in the Library Information Centre in administration on a Monday.

Teacher Aide/Learning assistant 2023

Fixed term/Part time

  • 21.75 hours per week, during school term time only, fixed term.
  • The hours of work will be linked to when the school is open for instruction.
  • This is a fixed term position from 30 January 2023– 8 December 2023
  • Salary and annual leave provisions are set according to the Support Staff in Schools’ Collective Agreement 2022-2024

This role is split between supporting the junior area of the school with students needing extra assistance and providing 1:1 support to ORS and ICS funded students in Year 9 needing assistance in some core subjects.

Important Skills

The successful applicant must have a genuine interest in working with young people and the ability to form positive relationships with students from various backgrounds and abilities. The successful applicant will:

  • Have prior experience working with students with high/complex needs and will be able to develop individual learning programmes to support students with ORS funding.
  • Have a proven record of reliability and trust and always maintain confidentiality.
  • Have a good understanding of the New Zealand Curriculum and how to adapt it to cater for the needs of our students.
  • Patient and enjoys working with students
  • Flexibility and adaptability are essential

About you

  • Experience with students with specific learning needs
  • Experience working with visually impaired students would be an advantage
  • Experience working in a school environment
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Effective organisational skills
  • The ability to work collaboratively as part of a team
  • Can build and maintain strong relationships and remain calm under pressure.
  • An understanding of and commitment to the special character of the school.

This role mainly will be supporting specific Year 7/8 students needing extra assistance with subjects like English, Mathematics and Science. Also providing support to ORS’s and ICS students in Year 9 and Year 12 needing assistance in some core subjects.

Important Skills 

This role requires someone who has:

  • Teacher Aide/ Learning Assistant experience
  • Have a proven record of reliability and trust and always maintain confidentiality.
  • Have a good understanding of the New Zealand Curriculum and how to adapt it to cater for the needs of our students.
  • General knowledge of literacy and numeracy.
  • Patient and enjoys working with students.
  • Flexibility and adaptability are essential.
