Caring for your uniform

Caring for your Villa Maria College uniform

Summer dress

Special care needs to be taken with laundry of the summer dress. Please do not soak the garment. A Sard (or similar) soap should be used to spot clean the white collar (do not use bleach or spray on products). The garment can then either washed by hand or on a cool, gentle machine cycle with a mild detergent. Rinse with warm water and drip dry inside out in the shade. Please do not tumble dry. A warm iron may be used to press the dress, but should not really be necessary. Alternatively, the dresses are dry cleanable.

The blazer may well need the arm length shortened. We recommend that this alteration be carried out by a sewing professional rather than simply turning up the sleeve, as this creates added bulk at the wrist and can be uncomfortable when writing in class. We have discount vouchers available in the shop for alterations.

We stock replacement buttons in the Uniform Shop at $2 each. Please use a strong yarn to replace them as the metal seems to cut through normal cotton very quickly.

Please note the blazers are dry clean only.

Please take the time to ensure all items of uniform are named.

Second-hand uniforms

Taking a bit of extra care with your daughter’s uniform will pay off when it comes to selling on outgrown garments through our second-hand shop. The College takes a 15% commission on successful sales and these funds are used to support student learning through the Student Assistance Fund.

If you have any problems or concerns with uniform, please feel free to contact me.
