Membership

The Villa Maria College PTA is always looking for new members and is grateful for parental support. If you would like to help, please contact the Chairperson, Mr Brendan Morahan, ph 03 352 8665. The PTA meets on the first Tuesday of each month at 7.30pm in the College meeting room.

Funding Successes

Over the last few years there has been numerous fundraising projects; Raising funds for a new College minibus, contributing to the College Astro Turf and this year donating $27,000 for the refurbishment of a Computer suite.

Current Projects

The College is seeking to build a new Science block and to develop a fitness course on campus. The PTA will raise funds for these projects.

In order to raise these funds the PTA will be carrying out a variety of fundraising activities in 2009. Selling the "Entertainment book' is a major PTA fundraiser. Aside from being an ideal fundraiser this voucher book offers generous discounts to purchasers - for example, discounts at local restaurants, films, travel, accommodation and local activities. These discounts total thousands of dollars and all for a $65.00 outlay. The book can be a great help in entertaining teenagers especially during school holidays. The discount book is valid for twelve months and books are available from the College office.

The PTA will also run a raffle and seeks to sell 6,000 tickets @ $2.00/ticket. Great prizes will be offered. 

The PTA Quiz Night has become an annual event in the College calendar; entertaining pupils, parents and staff alike. The competitiveness and interaction is very amusing.

Another function of the PTA is to host information evenings. Last year a guest speaker talked about Methamphetamine (the drug "P"). This year representatives of the Christchurch Police and Christchurch Hospital will speak about the use of Alcohol.
