Have you considered becoming a Parent Trustee on the VMC Board of Trustees?

10 May Have you considered becoming a Parent Trustee on the VMC Board of Trustees?

Board of Trustees elections: nominations are invited for the election of five parent representatives on the Villa Maria College Board of Trustees. A nomination form and a notice calling for nominations will be posted today (Fri 10 May) to all eligible voters. Additional nomination forms can be obtained from Reception at the College. Nominations close at noon on Friday 24 May 2019and should be accompanied by a signed candidate’s statement (up to 400 words).

The voting roll is open for inspection at the College and can be viewed during normal College hours. There will also be a list of candidates’ names, as they come to hand, for inspection at the College. If you would like to know more about the nomination or voting process, please contact Reception at the College and they will put you in touch with The Returning Officer, Ms Vicki Smith. Voting closes at noon on Friday 7 June 2019.

This is an exciting opportunity to be part of setting the strategic direction and Governance of the College. Formal qualifications are not a pre requisite, but also do not preclude you from this opportunity. The Board is made up of trustees with a wide variety of skills and life experiences. You do not necessarily need to be a parent or caregiver of a current Villa student. All you need is a commitment to the College, our students, our staff and our Special Character. The necessary training and support is available.

Our four Proprietor Trustees are appointed, as opposed to being part of this election process, so along with the Staff Trustee, Student Trustee and Principal, they will remain on the Board to guide you as you begin your journey as a trustee. If you wish to know more about what is involved in being a Parent Trustee, please contact Ms Jane Holt at jho@villa.school.nz and she will put you in touch with one of our current Parent Trustees.
