The Villa Maria College Cycling Team attended the recent 2016 South Island Secondary Schools Road Cycling Championships held in Christchurch over two days

It was an awesome competition for the 15 riders competing with amazing results.

Congratulations to the following riders:

1st Place – under 20 Scratch Race –  Olivia Reiber

1st Place – under 17 Scratch Race –  Britney Greene

3rd Place – under 14 Scratch Race – Beth Watt

2nd Place – Open Girls Teams Race – Emma Smith, Olivia Reiber, Britney Greene, Ella Pope

1st Place – under 14 girls Teams Race – Ella Lloyd, Samantha Walker, Kate Obrien

2nd Place – under 14 girls Individual Time Trial – Beth Watt

3rd Place 0 under 20 girls Individual Time Trial – Olivia Reiber.

In addition to above, we also had several 4th placings in various events.

Villa Maria College Cycling was awarded the highest points scored by a female school at this championship,  and was awarded second highest points scorer overall.

Further congratulations to all those that competed at this event.

The cycling club is in for a successful remainder of the year, together with a strong and growing presence in cycling for the years to come.
