Fees

The College dues and parent contributions may be broken down in to five parts:

  • Attendance Dues
  • Parent Contribution to Building Fund
  • Parent Contribution to Proprietor
  • Parent Contribution to College
  • Diocesan Catholic Special Character Contribution

The Parent contributions to the Proprietor, Building Fund, College and Catholic Education Office all qualify as a donation for income tax rebate purposes.  Only Attendance Dues include GST.

Attendance Dues are required to be paid under the terms of the Integration Act and are determined from time to time by the Proprietor and approved by the Minister of Education.  Dues are used to service debt incurred in meeting Integrated building costs.

Parent Contribution Building Fund is set in consultation between the Board of Trustees and the Company Board of Director members under terms of the Integration Act (Section 37). It is used to fund the building programme as outlined in the Property Development Plan which provides long term capital development of the College.  The new Arts Block opened in February 2005 and the courts re-sited at the beginning of 2007.

Parent Contribution to Proprietor is set by the Proprietor under the terms of the Integration Act (Section 37).  It is used for any development of the College above that required by the Integration Agreement, maintenance of non-integrated areas, Special Character and other purposes as may be decided by the Proprietor.  This fund is managed by Villa Maria College Christchurch Ltd.

Parent Contribution to College is set by the Board of Trustees and provides funds for the Library Information Resource Centre, College magazine, prize-giving, hospitality to visiting schools and other such items as may be decided by the Board.

Diocesan Catholic Special Character Contribution.   The Catholic Special Character Contribution is collected on behalf of the Catholic Education Office and is used to cover costs associated with the provision and delivery of professional development and advisory services in support of Catholic Special Character in Catholic secondary schools in the Diocese.
