Villa Maria College aims to bring out the best in all students and they are encouraged to apply themselves and develop an appreciation for life-long learning. Our girls are known for their integrity, self-assurance and compassion. Villa Maria College offers a broad choice of subjects at both the senior and junior level despite small class numbers at the senior level. The smaller class numbers are a significant advantage to students and to staff who enjoy close working relationships with their students. Learning support is available at all levels of the College.
Year 7 and 8 classes are composite, with all three classes having a mixture of year 7 and year 8 students. A two-year cycle is followed so that different topics are covered in each year and students work to the appropriate level of the Curriculum Framework. At year 7 and 8 all students study Te Reo once a week and study two other languages each year in a modular system. In 2010 year 7 and 8 students will study French and Japanese and Latin and German in 2011. Students are encouraged to enter the annual ICAS Exams.
