Shelter For All
Witness at Parliament
One of the ways The Sisters of Mercy New Zealand, Nga Whaea Atawhai o Aotearoa enabled us to express our concern for the homeless was the organisation of a hikoi to Parliament, which was essentially a collective witness and place to stand together to express our hopes as people of Mercy for all who need shelter and protection.
Schools were asked to put together ‘Shelter For All’ books of reflections from students which were handed to Members of Parliament.
Two of our students (Sophie Glass and Mia Butts) were part of the Hikoi and present Villa Maria’s reflection books to Members of Parliament
